Pipe Band History

Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band celebrated it’s 21st anniversary in 2006. Established in 1985 with mostly absolute beginners in terms of instruments and reading music. With hard work and dedication from it’s members, made up of serving and retired Firefighters and Officers of the Dublin Fire Brigade sees the  band today as one of the most sought after to perform at a variety of functions throughout the City and Country.

Performing for our own such as the Recruits pass out, Pensioners functions, Deceased members mass and unfortunately funerals is of great importance to the Band. Travelling abroad to perform is also a feature of the Bands itinerary on a regular basis, forging great links and friendships with other Brigades and Fire Departments across the globe, Belfast, London, New York, Washington DC, Chicago, Kansas and Moscow to name a few.

The Band always extends a warm welcome to new members to join, with an open invitation to all ranks of the Fire Brigade to come along to our practise sessions on a Monday night from 7pm in the OBI under the expert instruction of Dave Rickard on the bagpipes and Ciaran Mordaunt on the drums.

Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band would not be here today without the support of our fellow Firefighters and Officers who contribute to the Band as associate members.
