Dublin Fire Brigade

The Dublin Fire Brigade was established back in 1862 by the Dublin Corporation Fire Brigade Act. The Dublin City Council now runs this emergency service for itself and also three other local authorities.

Employing over 900 personnel this Fire and Rescue Service is unique in its operation as it also runs an emergency ambulance service since 1898, now under the guidelines of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council.

With 14 stations, 12 full time and 2 retained. Firefighters work both ambulance and fire duties. Along with the Regional Control Centre and Brigade Training School in Marino Dublin the service also includes a fire prevention department.

Changing with the City and County the service now includes specialist personnel in Swift Water Rescue, Tunnel Fire Fighting, High Rise Rescue Techniques and Offshore Fire Fighting.
